CITIDOE

Would your students like to jump start their college careers while still in high school? Would you like for them to earn dual high school and college credit taking online classes taught by university professors in the Information Technology (IT) field? Would you like your students to explore the IT field beyond your high school's course offerings? Is a 50% tuition discount attractive to your students? What do high school business students representing over 30 Indiana school corporations from throughout the state have in common? Would you like to know what CITIDOE represents?

CITIDOE is an educational partnership between the Computer and Information Technology (CIT) Department at IUPUI and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and its Business, Marketing, & Information Technology Education (BMIT) programs.

CITIDOE began in Fall 2005 with 26 students representing ten high schools from throughout the state. They participated in a pilot program pursuing a six-course, college-level IT certificate in web design from IUPUI taught online by CIT faculty. Today the program offers three IUPUI study plans: the Information Technology Certificate, the Computer Technology Applications Certificate, and some programming courses. Students take the courses online from their local high schools instead of coming to campus. Their high school BMIT teachers serve as facilitators overseeing and monitoring student progress.
